First Lieutenant Harry C. Remington Jr., pilot of an OA-10A Catalina took off at 0645 from his base and arrived at his orbit point (6°30'N, 135°E) at 1115 and contacted the fighters. At 1200 he spotted the B-24's leaving the target area. He left his orbit point and began following them. At 1340 he received a message that a B-24 was circling a life raft at 4°50'S, 135°20'E. He picked up both the raft and the circling B-24 on radar. At 1450 he made an open sea landing and picked up the survivors:

Both enlisted men injured; former abrasions on head and possible concussion, latter with broken leg just above the ankle. Following crew members reported missing: Second Lieutenant Daehm, C.W. (Navigator); Second Lieutenant Borman, W.A. (Bombardier); Corporal Gilbert, D.G. (Radio); Corporal Fellows, H.A. (Gunner) Corporal Wiley, J.B. (Gunner); Corporal Stritzel, G.A. (Gunner)
1540:	Took off for destination in Owi.
1550:	Sent in message on rescue and that we would land at OWI.
1730:	Landed at OWI, discharged survivors.
1800:	Landed at home base.

The rescue ship took off with the survivors onboard at 1540 and headed for Owi Island. At 1550 they sent a message stating they were enroute and would land 1730. They departed Owi and landed at home base at 1800.
